Hello there
In case you missed it, a 38-year-old mum from NSW took out the title of MasterChef Australia last night. Aren't George, Gary and Matt a far cry from chefs of reality TV past ala Gordan Ramsay? The reason I mention MasterChef is the massive public exposure and interest it has generated in food and wine. I counted at least half a dozen different Australian-made wines being used throughout the show – Mr Riggs, Tahbilk, Chandon etc (and I don’t think I missed one of the 70+ episodes – tragic I know). Was your wine one of them?
You can’t buy that sort of publicity – over 3.7 million people tuned in to last night’s final and the show regularly fetched ratings around the 2 million mark. If I was a wine producer I'd be climbing over myself to get in touch with the show's producers (FremantleMedia and Channel 10) to see how I could get my wines into their pantry. There's going to be a celebrity version later this year followed by a new season in 2010.
But I digress - I'd like to officially welcome our newest VINx2 customers who have all taken advantage of our special Trade-up and Save promotion opting to bag VINx2 at a very special rate. So a big thanks to:
We're traveling to all the above regions in the coming weeks and months so drop us a line if we're coming to a town near you are we'll be sure to stop by. As a matter of fact, Jamie is in California this week installing VINx2 into our first American winery, Jada Vineyard and Winery. Jamie tells me its 40 degrees in California and that the winery has a pool - that's a nice way to cool off after a hard day's training!
What about the metric system I hear you say...? Ah... well... we're happy to report that VINx2 has been built to support both Imperial and Metric units of measure which means we can talk in Gallons and Pounds or Litres and Tonnes with the click of a button. Like LIP in Australia and VQA in Canada, we've also been able to adapt VINx2 to support the Bio Terrorism and TTB tax regulations in the US - quite an involved group of requirements, some stemming from the days of prohibition: http://www.csa- compliance.com/html/Articles/ThreeTierFreeTrade.html
After California, Jamie heads up to Ontario to install VINx2 at Creekside Estate Winery who also makes the wine for Wayne Gretzky and his No. 99 Estates Winery. For those that might not be familiar, Wayne Gretzky is the legendary ice hockey player (and wine lover) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayne_Gretzky.
Our Trade-up promotion which will save you 15% off the up front cost of VINx2 has to end this month on the 31st July. There's never been a better time to talk to us about how VINx2 can improve efficiencies in your winery and deliver you better bang for your buck over and above your current system. Existing VINx2 customers can take advantage of this special offer on any of our modules including barrel barcode scanning, advanced inventory or sparkling wine production. But enough with the sales pitch… I should point out some new and exciting features that are in the upcoming releases of VINx2:
Sparking wine operations
With the help of Kilchurn Wines we now support a raft of specialised sparkling wine operations as part of our Sparkling Wine module which is now available for general release. If you make sparkling wine and would like to see these features in action then give us a call on +613 9015 9625.
Print wine analysis/sample labels using a DYMO label writer
We're currently working to support the printing of labels for lab work direct from VINx2 to a DYMO label writer. These fast little machines can print upwards of 55 labels a minute without the paper wastage of Avery labels. Imagine being able to quickly search for all wines that haven't had sulphur checked for a week and printing off a run of labels directly from VINx2 to go straight onto your sample bottles - a great time saver.
Canadian VQA Transfers and Auditor reports
For our Canadian customers, VINx2 has full VQA compliance including the ability to generate a report showing all VQA transfers (changes of ownership) that occurred between wine companies in an easy to read report that will help you during AGCO audits.
We've also had some great feedback from some of our customers recently - thanks guys.
After recently being audited by the AWBC, it is great knowing that we have a program that was highly commended by the AWBC auditor. The actual audit itself was made very easy and quick by VINx2. Coby Ladwig, Winemaker, Matildas Estate Winery
VINx2, a powerful tool that allows us to manage traceability from vineyard block to bottle. We were nervous about the service we were going to get from JX2 Technology due to the distance between Australia and Canada, but have to say that the level of service, the quick response time, professionalism of the JX2 staff, and the ability to have the reporting structure suit our Ontario winemaking regulations, have made this one of the best investments imaginable. Thomas Green, Vice President, Winemaking and Operations, Diamond Estates Wines & Spirits Ltd.
Until next time - happy winemaking.
Cheers
The JX2 team
