Happy Birthday VINx2, Happy birthday to you...

cakeIt was three years ago at WineTech 2007 that we quit our jobs and launched VINx2 to the Aussie Wine industry. This year we're marking the occasion with another long roadtrip back to WineTech to show everyone how far VINx2 has come. We'll be in a celebratory mood this year so make sure you pop by Stand 425 for a great deal on an upgrade.

Our last trip to WineTech started in the early hours of a wintry morning. Car packed and full to the brim we set off in Jamie's station wagon being careful not bottom out over even the smallest of speed bumps. Zane drew the short straw and go the backseat plush with LCD screens, boxes, luggage and beer.

The journey across was smooth enough and my first trip to Adelaide. We went via the Grampians, past iconic wine brands like Seppelt and Bests and then through the imaginatively named Bordertown (Google it!). After a food and fuel stop it was time to get the laptop out to put some finishing touches on VINx2 en-route to the launch.

Setting up at a trade show the size of WineTech was exciting - Think large scale big-boys-toys with stainless steel and lots of dangerous moving parts. The type of things we wanted to start driving without reading the manual, things like bottling lines, harvesters and crushers. Of course, there we were in the middle of all this, feeling a little overwhelmed with our software, laptops and LCDs. Three computer and wine geeks from Melbourne trying to break into the wine industry: we were determined to press on. *Boom Ching*

Launch day arrived and we were blown away with the initial response. At one stage we had three demos going at once and more people arriving for a look. Admittedly, VINx2 was still very fresh and were getting plenty of encouraging feedback but then it happened... our first sale. About two hours into the first day, Mark Turnbull and the crew from Belvidere Winery gave us the nod and a handshake after a quick demo. We were ecstatic. The rest, they say... is history.

This year we'll have plenty on show including:

If you haven't registered for WineTech you can do it online here.

Safe travels and hope to see you at the show,
